AAP Ruling: A federal judge in Boston has temporarily blocked recent changes to childhood vaccine recommendations, finding the government likely acted unlawfully by bypassing ACIP, appointing unqualified members, and failing to justify the updates. The decision freezes ACIP and reinstates the pre-June 2025 vaccine schedule. The ACIP meeting schedule for this week has been postponed. Read our explainer with YLE here.

Rural Health: Formed in 2023, North Dakota’s Rough Rider High-Value Network brings together more than 20 critical access hospitals to share data, coordinate care, and pursue value-based payment models. Early results suggest the model may help rural providers expand preventive care and improve finances. 

Drug Overdose: Public health officials are raising alarms about cychlorphine, a synthetic opioid estimated to be about 10 times more potent than fentanyl, after it was linked to several dozen recent overdoses across multiple states. The drug is often mixed into other street drugs and is not detected by standard fentanyl test strips.

Cardiovascular Prevention Guidelines: New clinical guidelines from the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and other medical groups recommend evaluating cholesterol risk earlier in adulthood and suggest some people as young as 30 consider lifestyle changes or statins.

In an American Journal of Public Health editorial, Dr. Ravi Kavasery highlights the role health plans can play in sustaining vaccine access and supporting public health through evidence-based coverage and cross-sector collaboration.

They can identify gaps in vaccination rates, target outreach to high-risk individuals and communities, and deploy interventions that increase uptake and reduce disparities. Data Watch

A recent study in The Lancet Digital Health found that large language models accepted fabricated medical claims about one-third of the time, with susceptibility rising to 46% when misinformation was embedded in formal hospital discharge notes. The findings suggest AI tools are more likely to accept false information when it appears in authoritative, clinical-sounding language.
