August health conversations

August has been a busy month for public health conversations across the state, including reactions to an executive order to change the childhood vaccination schedule. In response to the EO, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that the state’s childhood vaccine recommendations remain unchanged. Our content—including the back-to-school collection—can help address common questions about what vaccines kids need, why they get this many vaccines, and where to find them in the state. As non-medical vaccine exemptions increase nationally, including in Michigan, now is a key time to remind families that vaccines protect children, classrooms, and communities before the start of school.
